Chipping Sodbury - Yate - Cribbs Causeway bus service under threat

Wessex Connect has announced its intention to discontinue the 482/483 services from Chipping Sodbury via Yate, Frampton Cotterell, Winterbourne and Bradley Stoke to Cribbs Causeway with effect from Sunday 20th May. The Evening Post reports that the company says the services are no longer commercially viable, but South Glos Council is holding talks with the company to see if the services can be reinstated.

Meanwhile, some minor changes come into effect from 1st April. South Glos say that the 342/X42 Timetable is being revised to improve reliability and punctuality. Monday to Friday 1805 Service X42 from Bristol, Bus Station to Chipping Sodbury, Wickwar Road is withdrawn. Saturday there is an additional journey at 0730 from Bristol, Bus Station to Chipping Sodbury, Wickwar Road to provide an earlier first journey. The Sunday and Public Holiday daytime frequency is increased from every 120 minutes to every 60 minutes. All daytime journeys will be operated on a commercial basis and will no longer receive financial support from South Gloucestershire Council.

Current bus timetables are available from the South Glos website.

I was absolutely devastated to read that Wessex Connect are planning to stop the 482/483 bus service to Cribbs.I work at the Mall and although I do drive it has always been useful to be able to use this service if needed.I am fortunate enough to have had this option but I know of several colleagues that use this bus to get to and from work - what are they supposed to do give up their job ??!! There are also many people that dont own cars that wont be able to visit Bradley Stoke or the Mall/Venue anymore - it feels as if Yate/Sodbury is being cut off!! Even if the fare was raised it would still give the many people that can only get there on public transport a chance to continue doing so.
